The assignement of this project was the redesign of an existing building synthesis. The new building of Demokritos IIT department is a state of the art and fully equipped institute with the possibility of coverage needs of the future. Modern automation systems and operations ensure the maximum performance with minimal energy footprint. The building is classified in energy class A+ to meet cooling/heating/ventilation needs with almost zero losses. The building consists of many private offices / labs, auditoriums, multipurpose spaces and many communal areas where people can use for lectures, workshops, interacting work spaces, and leisure time. The accessibility requirements for disabled persons are fully covered in all areas, transforming the building into a pole of technological and cultural attraction that appeals both to scientific world as well as the general public.
